FAQs
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress-reduction and relaxation. The name translates to universally-guided life force energy, which can be likened to chi in Chinese Medicine, prana in Yogic Philosophy, and the bio-field in more Western Medicinal terms.
It is a form of energy healing based on channeling life-force energy, aka unconditional love, and can be practiced in-person or at a distance (online).
Reiki can benefit emotional, psychological, and mental well-being as well as physical health. Though Reiki is not associated with any particular religion or religious practice, some people find it spiritual in nature due to its focus on energy and the belief in the interconnectedness of all things.
What will I feel during a Reiki session?
Anything from soft warmth to gentle tingling, emotional release, or deep rest. Some drift into a meditative dream-space; others simply exhale for the first time all week. There is no right way — your body leads, and every response is welcome.
Is distance Reiki effective?
Yes. Energy travels through intention, not geography. Remote sessions often feel just as warm, steady, and deeply calming as in-person work — a quiet thread of connection across the miles.
Often times, people experience even more profound experiences remotely because there is not the added stress of traveling and they are more at ease in familiar surroundings.
Can Reiki support grief, burnout, or major life transitions?
Absolutely. Reiki doesn’t push anything away; it creates space around what hurts. Many clients find it helps steady the heart, soothe the nervous system, and bring a touch of grace to difficult seasons.
Can I receive Reiki alongside therapy, medical treatment, or end-of-life care?
Yes. Reiki is complementary — a companion, not a replacement. It can support emotional regulation, rest, and comfort while you continue your medical or therapeutic treatment.
Is Reiki safe during pregnancy or postpartum?
Yes. Sessions are slowed, softened, and shaped around your comfort. This work can be a balm during tender thresholds — easing anxiety, supporting sleep, and offering a quiet moment to breathe.
